Liking the FS-SW/Houston College Hoops Schedule

Although the college basketball schedule of games that Jim Haller and I will work in 2009-2010 is lighter than in past years due to defections from our control, the games we have had so far have been great.

When your "pecking order status" is where we are often our games have been non conference walkovers for Big 12 teams, Texas, Texas A&M and Baylor. Unfortunately for Jim and I we no longer work on the Texas games. On the other hand, over the years we did they often were the worst one-sided games. The all time record for my 40 year broadcasting career was a Texas 72 point victory over an opponent I won't embarass. (You can look it up.)

Those days are gone... At least for this season.

New Mexico's 84-81 win over the 16th ranked Aggies will go down as one of the more interesting games of the season. Not only will it vault New Mexico (at 10-0) into the top 25, but the Aggie comeback from an 18 point second half deficit to bring themselves within one point in the closing seconds was classic.

Aggie fans would rather have had the win, of course. But even they would have to admit that was some game.

Jim and I can only hope the remaining games on our schedule involving the Ags or Baylor will be able to hold up to at least close to that standard.
